You can feel it in the air, can't you? That first crisp hint of autumn has arrived, and with it, a renewed sense of urgency in Bristol's music scene. The hazy, laid-back days of summer are officially over, and the city's creative pulse is quickening. This week felt like the starting gun for the rest of the year, with a flurry of activity that spanned generations and genres. From legendary rock bands gracing our most storied stages to the next wave of jungle producers teasing their new anthems, it’s all happening.
The week of September 5th to the 11th was a perfect snapshot of Bristol's incredible diversity. We saw major album campaigns touch down in our local record stores, witnessed the triumphant return of live music to some of our favourite venues, and felt the buzz of new collaborations that could only have been born in this city. It’s a reminder that no matter where you look, Bristol's artists are pushing boundaries and making their mark. Let's dive in.

Bandcamp Picks 🎶
For the independent, the experimental, and the sounds bubbling up from the underground.
Motion & Stillness EP – Kin Balam
A gorgeous slice of ambient electronica from a rising local producer. This EP, released through the excellent Bristol-based label 'Echo Chamber', is a masterclass in texture and atmosphere. It’s the perfect soundtrack for a late-night walk through the quieter parts of the city, full of deep bass and ethereal synth pads.

"Severn Beach" Single – The Mire
Raw, lo-fi indie with a distinctly Bristolian melancholy. The Mire's latest single captures the feeling of a grey day looking out over the estuary. With jangly guitars and heartfelt, introspective lyrics, this is a must-listen for fans of acts like Lande Hekt and The Orielles.

A Wonderful Life Album Signing – Tom Odell
While the album was already making waves, the real Bristol moment came when Tom Odell headed to Rough Trade for a special in-store signing on the 8th. It was a brilliant opportunity for fans to connect with the artist and celebrate a stunning body of work. A truly beautiful and introspective album.
"Maia Maia" Single Tease – Nia Archives & Clipz
The buzz was palpable this week as two generations of jungle royalty, Nia Archives and Bristol’s own Clipz, began teasing their monumental collaboration. Though it officially dropped a week later, "Maia Maia" was already setting the scene alight with its Brazilian-infused energy. A massive track with deep Bristol roots.

Live at The Fleece – FM
Legends of AOR, FM, brought their 'Brotherhood' tour to the iconic Fleece on the 11th. For fans of classic rock, this was a night of pure joy, filled with soaring vocals and incredible musicianship. It's always special to see a band with such a rich history grace one of Bristol's most important stages.

Live at Electric – Pendulum
Electronic music titans Pendulum took over Electric Bristol on the 10th for a high-octane live show. It was a reminder of their enduring power and influence, with a set that spanned their impressive career. A huge night for the city's drum & bass and electronic music fans.

And there we have it! A week that truly had something for everyone, from intimate in-store signings and underground electronic gems to massive live shows from some of the biggest names in the business. It’s clear that the autumn season is off to an incredible start.
