The sagging pumpkins have been cleared, the temperature has properly dropped, and the city is buzzing with anticipation. Why? Because **Simple Things Festival** is just hours away! But before we all dive into that magnificent, city-wide celebration, it turns out Bristol's artists decided to drop an absolutely absurd amount of new music. Seriously, my playlist is overflowing. Let's get through this massive haul.
Bandcamp Picks 🎶
Nossienne – "Water from the Sun"
A beautifully sparse and haunting track. "Water from the Sun" feels like pure, minimalist folk, perfect for these quiet autumn nights. It's a stunning, intimate release that really showcases a captivating voice.
Benedikt Frey – Aid Kit
Released on Bristol's own Club Blanco imprint, 'Aid Kit' is a journey into deep, minimal, and textured experimental techno. This is a proper heads-down, late-night cut, full of atmosphere and intricate sound design.
Robin Vale – "Letters to No One"

A Little Sound, Kelvin 373, Selecta J-Man & Aries – "Reload"
‘Reload’ brings together four Bristol-based bass-music talents under one roof. Backed by the Born On Road collective, it fuses dancehall, jungle and modern bass, all dialled for club sound-systems. A potent reminder of the city’s bass-music edge.
Will Clarke & Sharlene Hector – "Raise Your Hands"
From Bristol-born producer Will Clarke, ‘Raise Your Hands’ is a crisp, house-centric single. With Clarke’s trademark tech-house polish and Sharlene Hector's soulful vocal, it’s rooted in Bristol but made for global clubs.
KIPPO & Mai – "Maze"
KIPPO teams up with rising vocalist Mai on ‘Maze’, trading in UK-garage rhythms for shadow-lined sub-bass grooves. Expect smoky late-night club vibes and a next-wave Bristol bass aesthetic.
Low End Activist & Tia Talks – "Fake Idols"
‘Fake Idols’ sees Low End Activist with vocalist Tia Talks, delivering electro-pop with a sub-text: a sharp commentary on superficiality and fame. A strong contender for listeners looking for smart pop with an edge.
Two Swords – "Jersey Devil"

The highlight of the past week had to be the legendary Deep Forest playing a live machine set on Thekla last night (Nov 6th). It’s not every day you get to see Grammy-winning electronic pioneers on a boat. A proper 'I was there' moment for the Bristol scene.
